Introduction

Udit Narayan is a famous Indian playback singer. His songs have been featured in Bollywood. He is a great superstar. He is famous for his unique style of music. He sang songs in many languages such as Hindi, Nepali, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Bangali, etc. His life gives an example of a success story of an individual.

Early life

Udit Narayan’s full name is Udit Narayan Jha. He was born in 1955 to Nepali father Harekrishna Jha and Indian mother Bhuveneshwari Jha. His birthplace is Bhardaha, Saptari located in Nepal. He was born in a poor family. His life was very hard to tolerate. He studied in Bindeshwari Secondary School, Rajbiraj in Nepal. After that, he completed his education from Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Kathmandu. 

Career

He started his from 1970 as Maithili folk singer in Radio Nepal. He also used to sing Nepali and Bhojpuri songs in functions and programmes. In 1978, he went to Mumbai on a music scholarship from Indian embassy. Then slowly and slowly, he began to sing Hindi songs. After some songs, he was very popular in Bollywood. He started to sing songs for Hindi movies. His albums got superhit and he became a superstar. 

Personal life

Udit Narayan was married to Ranjana Narayan Jha in 1984. After that, he again married a Nepali singer Deepa Narayan Jha. He also had a son with his wife Deepa named as Aaditya Narayan Jha who is a television host and playback singer. Now, he is living in Mumbai along with his family. Today, his age is about 64 years old. 

Songs

Udit Narayan sang different songs in his lifetime. He was able to sing songs in different languages such as Nepali, Hindi, Bhojpur, Tamil, Bengali, etc. His songs were superhit and very popular. He got the opportunity to sing with famous singers like Kishor Kumar and Mohammed Rafi. He was in competition with Kumar Sanu. He also sang many songs with Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Alka Yagnik. He has sung songs for bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachan, Rajesh Khanna, Amir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgon and many more. Some of his famous Hindi songs are “Papa kehte Hai”, “Pardeshi”, “Pehla Nasha”, “Jadu Teri Nazar”, “Koyal si Teri boli”, “Ghar se nikalte hi”, “Agar Tum Mil Jao”, “Chaha Hai Tujhko”, “Taal se taal”, “Mitwa”, etc.

As a Nepali singer

Udit Narayan was a Nepali singer before he went into Bollywood.He sang many songs for Nepal too. For Nepal, he sang songs in Bhojpuri, Maithili and Nepali. His Nepali songs were also very popular. Some of his Nepali songs are listed below :-
