Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada

Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada is the Finance Minister as well as the Communication and Information Technology Minister of the Government of Nepal. Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada received his Master’s degrees in Economics and Public Administration from Tribhuvan University in 1981 and 1984 and a Ph.D. in Monetary Economics from Delhi School of Economics, the University of Delhi in 1991. 

Dr. Khatiwada has also previously served as Vice-Chair of the National Planning Commission during 2009-2010 and 2015-2016. He also served as Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank during 2010-2015. He also worked as the Senior Economist in the Regional Centre of UNDP for Asia and the Pacific for three years (2006-2009). He was the Head of the Economic Research Department of Nepal Rastra bank during 1999-2002.

For his exceptional service to the development of Nepal, Dr. Khatiwada has been honored with various prestigious national awards such as Suprabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu (2001), Sukirtmaya Rastra Deep (2013), and Prasiddha Prabal Jana Sewa Shree (2016).

Dr. Khatiwada is highlighted in the list of distinguished alumni of Delhi University.

Dr. Khatiwada has also authored and co-authored a number of books and research papers.
